Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce

Directions

  1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Stir in the jalapeno and bell pepper and cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
  4. Add the diced tomatoes and tomato sauce and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.
