Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup fried onions

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and sauté for 3 minutes.
  3. Stir in the flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Slowly add the chicken broth and cream, whisking until smooth. Cook for 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  4. Add the green beans and Parmesan cheese to the sauce and stir until combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13 baking dish and top with the fried onions.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the green beans are tender and the sauce is bubbling.
