2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup fried onions
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and sauté for 3 minutes.
Stir in the flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Slowly add the chicken broth and cream, whisking until smooth. Cook for 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
Add the green beans and Parmesan cheese to the sauce and stir until combined.
Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13 baking dish and top with the fried onions.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until the green beans are tender and the sauce is bubbling.
