Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cold butter, cut into cubes

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour and salt.
  2. Add the butter cubes and work into the flour with a pastry cutter or your fingers until it resembles coarse meal.
  3. Slowly add the cold water, stirring with a fork, until a dough is formed.
  4. Divide the dough in half and form two discs. Wrap each disc in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  5. Roll out one disc on a lightly floured surface until it is about 11-12 inches in diameter.
  6. Fold the dough in half and place in a 9-inch pie plate. Unfold and fit to the pie plate.
  7. Repeat with the second disc.
  8. Fill and bake according to your recipe instructions.
