Ingredients

  • 4 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat.
  2. Add onions and cook, stirring often, until onions are softened and lightly browned, about 5 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle flour over onions and stir to combine. Cook for 1 minute.
  4. Add chicken broth and stir until combined. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Reduce heat to low and add cream, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and salt. Stir to combine.
  6. Continue to cook until sauce has thickened, about 5 minutes.
