Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, using a hand mixer, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating until fully incorporated after each egg. Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop the dough by heaping tablespoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are lightly golden brown.
  8. Let cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a cooling rack to cool completely.
