Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar. Stir in the dates and nuts.
In a separate bowl, mix together the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
