Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14.5 ounces) can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounces) can of chili beans
  • 1 (4 ounces) can of diced green chilies
  • 1 teaspoon of chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Directions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, add the ground beef, onion, and garlic. Cook until the beef is browned.
  2. Add the diced tomatoes, chili beans, and green chilies. Stir to combine.
  3. Add the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the red pepper flakes and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
  6. Serve with shredded cheddar cheese, if desired.
