Mena's Simple Steamed Asparagus

Ingredients

  • 1 lb asparagus, trimmed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

Directions

  1. Fill a large pot with 1 inch of water and bring to a boil.
  2. Add the trimmed asparagus to the boiling water and cook for 2-3 minutes until crisp-tender.
  3. Remove the asparagus from the boiling water and place in a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
  4. Once cooled, remove the asparagus from the ice water and pat dry with paper towels.
  5. Place the asparagus in a steamer basket and steam for 3-5 minutes until heated through.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix until combined.
  7. Pour the butter mixture over the asparagus and stir to coat.
  8. Serve the asparagus warm and enjoy!
