Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook, stirring occasionally, until onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, eggs, Parmesan cheese, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add the cooked onion and garlic, and mix until well combined.
  4. Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place into a 9x13-inch (23x33-cm) baking dish.
  5. Bake in preheated oven until the loaf is cooked through, about 45 minutes.
  6. Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
