Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla until light and fluffy.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder; stir into the creamed mixture until just blended.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until edges are lightly toasted.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
