In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and cream cheese until light and fluffy. Stir in the maple flavoring.
In a separate bowl, sift together the flour and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, stirring just until blended. Stir in the walnuts.
Roll the dough into 1 inch balls and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until lightly golden.
Remove from cookie sheet to cool on wire racks.
