Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons maple extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the egg, maple extract, and vanilla extract and beat until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped walnuts or pecans, if using.
  6. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  8. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  9. Scoop out the cookie dough with a cookie scoop or spoon onto the baking sheet, making sure to leave 1-2 inches between each cookie.
  10. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
