Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 large egg
2 teaspoons maple extract

Directions

Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
Fold in the chopped walnuts or pecans, if using.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Scoop out the cookie dough with a cookie scoop or spoon onto the baking sheet, making sure to leave 1-2 inches between each cookie.
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
