Ingredients
- 2 packages active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup candied fruit
- 1/2 cup chopped blanched almonds
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
Directions
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand for 10 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, salt, eggs, and yeast mixture. Beat until smooth.
- Add flour, raisins, candied fruit, and almonds. Mix until combined.
- Knead dough for 5 minutes on a lightly floured surface or in a stand mixer until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Punch down dough and divide in half. Shape each half into a round loaf and place on a greased baking sheet.
- Cover and let rise until doubled in size, about 45 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
