- 1/2 cup butter
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

- 3/4 cup milk
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch square pan.
- In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
