Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) cold butter, cut into cubes
  • 4-8 tablespoons cold water

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour and salt.
  2. Add the butter and mix until the butter is the size of small peas.
  3. Add the cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and mix until the dough comes together.
  4. Form the dough into a ball and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/8 inch thick.
  6. Transfer the dough to a 9-inch pie dish and press it into the bottom and sides of the dish.
  7. Trim any excess dough with a knife or pastry wheel.
  8. Bake according to your recipe instructions.
