Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 inch piece of ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh cilantro

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the onion, garlic, and ginger. Cook for 3 minutes until onion is soft.
  3. Add the ground beef and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is browned.
  4. Add the potatoes and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the tomato paste, cumin, coriander, garam masala, turmeric, and chili powder. Stir to combine.
  6. Add 1/2 cup of water and stir. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until potatoes are tender and sauce is thick.
  7. Add the cilantro and stir to combine.
  8. Serve hot with steamed rice or naan bread.
