Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 package (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually stir in dry ingredients until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts, if desired.
  5. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto prepared cookie sheets. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
  6. Allow cookies to cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together confectioners' sugar, cocoa powder, and milk until smooth. Drizzle over cooled cookies.
