Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups basmati rice
- 3 tablespoons ghee
- 1/4 cup cashew nuts, chopped
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 3 cups water
- Salt, to taste
Directions
- Rinse the basmati rice in a fine-mesh sieve until the water runs clear. Set aside.
- Heat the ghee in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the cashew nuts and raisins and cook until lightly toasted, about 2 minutes.
- Add the turmeric and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the rice and stir to combine. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Add the water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Remove from the heat and let the rice stand, covered, for 10 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and season with salt, to taste.
- Serve warm.
