Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, rolled oats, cornmeal, and shredded cheddar cheese.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the unsweetened applesauce, water, honey, egg, and dried parsley.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until well combined. If the dough seems too dry, add a little more water.
- Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for a few minutes until it comes together.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. You can use a rolling pin or simply flatten it with your hands.
- Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes from the dough. Place the cut-out shapes onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the treats are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let the treats cool completely before serving to your dog.
- Store the treats in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
