Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh Concord grapes
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 package powdered pectin

Directions

  1. Wash and remove stems from the grapes. Place grapes in a large pot and crush them using a potato masher.
  2. Add water to the pot and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes.
  3. Strain the grape mixture through a cheesecloth or jelly bag to remove seeds and skins.
  4. Return the strained juice to the pot and add sugar and lemon juice. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  5. Stir in powdered pectin and boil for 1 minute.
  6. Remove from heat and skim off any foam that forms on the surface.
  7. Pour hot jelly into sterilized jars, leaving 1/4 inch of space at the top. Seal the jars and process in a hot water bath for 10 minutes.
  8. Allow the jelly to cool and set before serving.
