Elevate your grilling game with this sweet and tangy homemade blackberry barbeque sauce recipe. Made with fresh blackberries, this thick and flavorful sauce is the perfect accompaniment to grilled meats, burgers, and even vegetables. With a hint of smokiness from the barbeque spices and a touch of sweetness from the blackberries, this sauce will take your barbeque dishes to a whole new level.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the blackberries, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the blackberries have broken down and the sauce has thickened, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the sauce cool slightly.
  4. Using an immersion blender or a regular blender, blend the sauce until smooth. If using a regular blender, be sure to let the sauce cool completely before blending.
  5. Once blended, pour the sauce back into the saucepan and heat it over low heat for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Remove from heat and let the sauce cool completely before transferring it to a jar or bottle.
  7. The blackberry barbeque sauce is now ready to be used. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
