Ingredients
- 2 (9-inch) unbaked pie crusts
- 8 cups thinly sliced, peeled tart apples (such as Granny Smith)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Place one pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate. In a large bowl, combine apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice; mix well. Pour into pie crust.
- Cut butter into small pieces and sprinkle over the top of the filling.
- Cover with remaining pie crust, and crimp the edges to seal. Cut slits in the top crust for steam to escape.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Cool before serving.
