8 cups thinly sliced, peeled tart apples (such as Granny Smith)
3/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces
Directions
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Place one pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate. In a large bowl, combine apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice; mix well. Pour into pie crust.
Cut butter into small pieces and sprinkle over the top of the filling.
Cover with remaining pie crust, and crimp the edges to seal. Cut slits in the top crust for steam to escape.
