Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup reduced-sodium beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the onion, garlic, and bell pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until no longer pink, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the chili powder and cumin and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Stir in the tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, honey, and salt. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened, about 10 minutes.
  6. Serve on toasted buns.
