This recipe takes your regular bratwursts to the next level by simmering them in a flavorful beer bath before grilling. The result is juicy, smoky sausages that are perfect for your next cookout or tailgate party.

Ingredients

  • 6 bratwurst sausages
  • 1 bottle of beer
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • 6 hoagie rolls
  • Mustard and sauerkraut for serving

Directions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the beer, onion, garlic, paprika, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. Add the bratwurst sausages to the beer mixture and simmer for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Remove the bratwursts from the beer mixture and grill for 5-7 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through.
  4. Toast the hoagie rolls on the grill for a minute or two.
  5. Serve the grilled bratwursts in the hoagie rolls with mustard and sauerkraut on the side. Enjoy!
