Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, sliced
  • 1 apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Spread the butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Spread the mustard on the other side of each slice of bread.
  4. Place the slices of bread in the skillet, butter side down.
  5. Top each slice of bread with the cheese, apple slices, thyme, salt and pepper.
  6. Place the remaining slices of bread on top, butter side up.
  7. Cook for 3-4 minutes, until the bottom slice is golden brown.
  8. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until the other side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  9. Serve warm.
