Ingredients

  • 1/4 pound of Kefalotyri or Kasseri cheese, cut into 1/2-inch thick slices
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano

Directions

  1. Place the slices of cheese on a plate and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Dust the cheese slices lightly with flour.
  3. Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the cheese slices to the skillet and cook until golden brown on each side, about 1 to 2 minutes per side.
  5. Transfer the cheese slices to a serving plate.
  6. Squeeze the juice of the lemon wedges over the cheese slices.
  7. Sprinkle the oregano over the top.
  8. Serve warm.
