Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla. Add eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition. Gradually stir in flour mixture alternately with milk. Mix until all ingredients are well blended.
  4. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
