Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water (105-110°F)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) melted butter
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, sugar and yeast. Add the warm water, oil, melted butter and egg. Stir to combine.
  2. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and knead for 10 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  4. Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured work surface. Roll the dough into a log and divide into 12 equal pieces.
  5. Shape each piece into a round roll and place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Cover the rolls with a damp cloth and let rise for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
  7. Remove the rolls from the oven and brush with melted butter. Serve warm.
