Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup white sugar
- 2 eggs
- ¾ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a large bowl, combine the sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla extract, butter, and lemon zest. Beat until smooth.
- Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring constantly. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
