Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 4 cups coconut milk
- 1 teaspoon fish sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 pounds of fresh crabs, cleaned and halved
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- In a large saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the garlic, onion, and bell pepper. Saute until the vegetables are softened.
- Add the tomatoes and ground ginger. Cook until the tomatoes are softened and the mixture is fragrant.
- Add the coconut milk, fish sauce, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add the crabs and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Serve the Ginataang Alimasag with hot steamed rice or boiled vegetables.
