Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup espresso
- 1/2 cup ladyfingers
- Cocoa powder for garnish
- Chocolate shavings for garnish
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a medium bowl, beat together eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add in the flour and melted butter and mix until combined.
- Pour the batter into a greased 9” round cake pan and bake for 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, heat the milk, vanilla extract, and nutmeg over medium heat until just boiling. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Once the cake is done baking, let cool for 10 minutes. Cut into slices and place in the bottom of a 9” round serving dish.
- Soak the ladyfingers in the espresso and then layer them over the cake slices.
- Pour the custard over the cake and ladyfingers and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle with cocoa powder and chocolate shavings.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
