Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the potato mixture to the skillet, pressing down to form a pancake shape.
Cook for about 5 minutes, or until the farl is golden brown on the bottom. Flip the farl over, and cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until golden brown.
Remove from the skillet and keep warm. Repeat with the remaining potato mixture, adding more butter and oil as needed.
