Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh cherries, pitted and halved
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch (23 cm) square baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine cherries, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves. Stir to combine.
  3. Pour cherry mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine melted butter, flour, baking powder, salt, and milk. Stir until just combined.
  5. Pour biscuit mixture over the cherry mixture, spreading evenly.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
