Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cold beer
  • 1 ½ pounds white fish fillets (cod, haddock, or pollock)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 6 small slider buns
  • 1 cup store-bought tartar sauce
  • 1 ½ cups frozen French fries

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly pour in the beer, stirring until the mixture is smooth. Set aside.
  2. Cut the fish fillets into small strips. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F. Dip the fish strips into the beer batter and carefully drop them into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3 minutes. Remove from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  3. Meanwhile, heat the French fries according to package directions. Split the slider buns and lightly toast them. Spread the tartar sauce on the buns and top with the fish strips and French fries.
  4. Serve the sliders warm.
