Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add butter and using a pastry blender or your hands, cut butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse meal.
- Stir in raisins.
- Add buttermilk and stir just until dough comes together.
- On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough a few times until it comes together.
- Pat dough into an 8-inch circle and cut into 8 wedges.
- Place wedges on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve warm with butter, jam, or honey.
