Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, drained, rinsed
  • 1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans, drained, rinsed
  • 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 10 minutes, breaking up the beef with a spoon as it cooks.
  3. Add the black beans, kidney beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper to the pot. Stir to combine.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. Serve hot with your favorite toppings, such as sour cream, shredded cheese, sliced jalapeños, and diced onions.
