Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 of a small white onion, minced
  • 1/2 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crust (2 crusts)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, cabbage, garlic powder, salt, and pepper over medium heat until the beef is browned, about 10 minutes. Drain off any excess fat.
  3. Stir in the cheese, rice, and melted butter.
  4. Roll out one of the pie crusts and cut into four circles using a biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass.
  5. Place one circle of dough onto a baking sheet. Place 1/4 of the meat mixture into the center of the circle and fold the dough over the mixture, pinching the edges to seal.
  6. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes, or until the bierocks are golden brown.
  8. Serve warm.
