This Instant Pot General Tso's Chicken recipe is a quick and flavorful twist on the popular Chinese takeout dish. Tender chicken bites coated in a sweet and spicy sauce, served over fluffy rice - a perfect weeknight dinner idea!

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until well coated.
  2. Set the Instant Pot to 'Saute' mode and heat oil. Add the chicken in batches and cook until browned.
  3. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Once chicken is browned, add the sauce mixture and chicken broth. Close the Instant Pot lid and set to 'Manual' for 5 minutes.
  5. Once done, quick release the pressure and stir in chopped green onions.
  6. Serve the General Tso's Chicken over cooked white rice and enjoy!
