The wontons are then pan-fried to perfection, resulting in a deliciously crispy exterior and a juicy, savory filling. This recipe is perfect as an appetizer or a main dish, and can be enjoyed on its own or with a dipping sauce. Try making these Korean wontons at home for a unique and flavorful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 package round wonton wrappers
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup kimchi, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup carrots, finely grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, kimchi, green onions, carrots, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Place a wonton wrapper on a clean work surface and brush the edges with water. Place a teaspoon of the pork mixture in the center of the wrapper. Fold the wrapper in half to create a triangle and press the edges to seal. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the wontons in a single layer, making sure they don't touch each other. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Remove the cooked wontons from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
  5. Enjoy your homemade Korean wontons!
