- 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts, if using.
- Drop the cookie dough by heaping tablespoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, until golden brown. Let cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheets, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
