Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Directions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the core from the head of cabbage and place the entire head into the boiling water. Cook for 5-7 minutes, until the outer leaves are softened. Remove the cabbage from the water and carefully peel off 10-12 leaves. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, cooked rice, diced onion, minced garlic, dried thyme, dried oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Take one cabbage leaf and place a spoonful of the pork mixture in the center. Fold in the sides of the leaf and roll it up tightly, like a burrito. Repeat with the remaining cabbage leaves and pork mixture.
  4. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat some oil over medium heat. Place the cabbage rolls seam side down in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned. Flip the rolls over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Mix well.
  6. Pour the tomato sauce mixture over the cabbage rolls in the skillet. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 45 minutes, or until the cabbage rolls are tender.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy!
