Ingredients
- 1 lb ground lamb
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 cup chopped cucumber
- 1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
- 4 hamburger buns, toasted
- Lettuce leaves, for serving
- Red onion slices, for serving
Directions
- In a large bowl, combine ground lamb, breadcrumbs, red onion, garlic, parsley, mint, cumin, coriander, oregano, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Shape the lamb mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
- In a small bowl, mix together Greek yogurt and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in chopped cucumber and tomatoes.
- To assemble the sandwiches, spread a generous amount of the yogurt sauce on the toasted hamburger buns. Place a few meatballs on the bottom half of each bun. Top with lettuce leaves and red onion slices. Cover with the top half of the bun.
