Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with buttermilk, lemon juice, lemon zest, and vanilla extract.
