This hot dog noodle casserole is a comforting and hearty dish that brings together two American favorites: hot dogs and pasta. Ingredients

  • 8 hot dogs, sliced
  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the elbow macaroni according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic over medium heat until softened.
  4. Add the sliced hot dogs to the skillet and cook until lightly browned.
  5. Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, layer half of the cooked macaroni.
  7. Pour half of the hot dog and tomato sauce mixture over the macaroni.
  8. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  9. Repeat the layers with the remaining macaroni, hot dog and tomato sauce mixture, and shredded cheddar cheese.
  10. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
