- 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease or line a muffin tin with paper liners.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix together the melted butter, mashed bananas, buttermilk, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
