Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak
  • 1 lb broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water

Directions

  1. Slice the beef into thin strips against the grain.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, beef broth, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, and black pepper.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
  4. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet and stir-fry for 1 minute.
  5. Add the beef strips to the skillet and stir-fry until browned, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  7. Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
  8. Pour the sauce mixture over the broccoli and stir to coat.
  9. Cover the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, until the broccoli is tender-crisp.
  10. Return the beef to the skillet and stir to combine with the broccoli and sauce.
  11. If the sauce is too thick, add the water to thin it out.
  12. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat everything through.
  13. Serve the Broccoli Beef over steamed rice or noodles.
