  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons paprika
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 275°F (135°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, chili powder, and cayenne pepper to create a spice rub.
  3. Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs by sliding a knife under the membrane and pulling it off.
  4. Rub the spice mixture onto both sides of the ribs, ensuring an even coating.
  5. Place the ribs on a baking sheet and cover tightly with aluminum foil.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 hours, or until the ribs are tender and the meat starts to pull away from the bones.
  7. Remove the foil and brush the ribs generously with BBQ sauce.
  8. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and return the ribs to the oven, uncovered.
  9. Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the BBQ sauce is caramelized and sticky.
  10. Remove from the oven and let the ribs rest for a few minutes before cutting into individual portions.
  11. Serve the oven-baked BBQ ribs hot with additional BBQ sauce on the side.
