Capsicum Zunka is a traditional Indian dish that combines the crunchiness of bell peppers with the spiciness of the zunka masala. It is a perfect side dish to accompany rice or roti. This recipe is a must-try for anyone who enjoys spicy and flavorful Indian cuisine.

Ingredients

  • 2 large green bell peppers, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup besan (gram flour)
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and hing. Let them splutter.
  2. Add chopped onions and green chilies. Saute until onions turn golden brown.
  3. Add sliced bell peppers and cook until they are partially cooked.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix besan with turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt.
  5. Add the besan mixture to the pan and stir well to coat the bell peppers.
  6. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the besan is cooked and the bell peppers are tender.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
