- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 8 taco shells
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup diced avocado
- 1/4 cup sour cream
Directions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground turkey over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the onion is translucent.
- Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to toast the spices.
- Add the tomato sauce and water to the skillet. Stir well to combine all the ingredients. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- While the turkey mixture is simmering, warm the taco shells according to the package instructions.
