Ingredients
- 10 pounds of apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 cup water
Directions
- Place the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt, lemon juice, and water in the Instant Pot.
- Close and lock the lid of the Instant Pot. Set the valve to the sealing position.
- Select the manual or pressure cook setting and set the timer to 20 minutes on high pressure.
- Once the cooking time is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes. Then, carefully release any remaining pressure by moving the valve to the venting position.
- Using an immersion blender, blend the apple mixture until smooth and creamy.
- If the apple butter is too thin, select the sauté function on the Instant Pot and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until desired thickness is reached.
- Transfer the apple butter to sterilized jars and let cool completely before sealing with lids.
- Store the apple butter in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for longer storage.
